The stigma of mental health in the black community
Historically, mental illness has been viewed as a sign of weakness or lack of faith in the Black community. This stigma has made many Black men feel ashamed or embarrassed to seek help for their mental health issues.
We wanted to combat the stigma of mental health in Black communities and normalize the conversation starting with Black men, so we reached out to Jason Wilson and curated a conversation between him and our founder, Brandon Marshall, about the Black man’s unique plight navigating family, business, and personal growth.
Jason Wilson is a father, writer, and man of faith who has been mentoring boys and young men for years, teaching them how to rise above life's inevitable challenges. After the release of his latest book, “The Man the Moment Demands,” Brandon Marshall sits down with him to discuss the messages and the lessons in his book and how he implements those lessons in his own journey. A conversation of vulnerability and the plight of the modern-day man.
we engaged with our social community, so they could join the conversation.
